How Well Do You Know You?

“I may not be able to change the world I see around me, but I can change what I see within me.”

John C. Maxwell

How well do you know yourself? Do you spend enough time with yourself? Do you like yourself?

Knowing and loving yourself should always be top priority because it is the one thing only you can do.

A few years ago my husband talked me into the idea of us getting bikes and our M1s. And then we made it happen. I spent more time with myself while riding than I ever did off the bike. I mean, who else am I going to talk to while I’m on a motorcycle?

I do have to say that it wasn’t easy in the beginning. I got into my own head a little bit. I had to learn who I was and if I even liked me. Before riding, I hadn’t really taken the time to be with me, to get to know me, and to love me.

But it was so good! Once I got past the awkwardness of my own thoughts (you’d be surprised how awkward you can be with yourself), I really liked me.

Try to take at least a few minutes a day to just be with yourself. I’m not talking about being in the shower and thinking about your day and your to do list. I am not talking about listening to music while working out and counting reps.

I am talking about some actual time with yourself, clear your mind, tell you that you love you, list of all the things that you love about yourself. Zero criticism here, only the good! Talk about how you support you and about the good decisions you’ve made. Have a conversation about the last book that you read. Really get to know who you are.

This process brought a lot of clarity for me, my confidence was boosted, and I just overall felt better. I am definitely more comfortable hanging out with myself now (and sometimes prefer it!).

Oh, and this isn’t just for the women out there. This is for every single person. You’re never too young or too old to get to know yourself a little better and love yourself a little more.
