Number one on the list of things not to do yourself is your accounts. You may think you are a financial whiz kid, but unless you have sat and passed all those exams, you are not going to be as knowledgeable as qualified accountants in this field.

As well as being able to give you some solid advice on how to complete your tax returns. Something that most people can find a little extra tricky, whether their company is small or large.
Yes, accountants will charge for their services.But don’t let that put you off, as it’s probably a false economy to think that you can do without their advice.

It may be easier to outsource finding new employees to an agency, but is this really how you want to run your business? Surely if someone is going to be working for you, you will want to know that they specifically fit the environment and job spec.
The best way to do this is to review CV’s and do the interviews yourself. Yes, it can be time-consuming, but as you are making a significant investment in each new employee that you take on, surely it’s worth it?

Everyone has access to Google these days, which sometimes means we can think of ourselves as experts on nearly everything. However there is one area in particular that you can read much about, but still not be anywhere near the standard of the professionals, and that is law.
They say a man that represents himself in court has a fool for a counselor, and there may just be something in that. With that in mind get legal consultation and representation where appropriate. As this is likely to save you a lot of stress and hassle.
Remember they know what they are doing, and while you may have right on your side, you also need to be able to navigate the waters of legal terminology and the subtleties of business law. Something that is not always easy for the uninitiated.
