For example, you can only sack someone immediately if they have broken a particular rule. But not only that, your employee must be aware of what that rule is. In less severe events, you may have to give them a verbal warning and then two written warnings before you can ask the to pack away their desk. However, once you have outlined your responsibilities, don’t shirk from them. You should be just as dedicated to your handbook’s rules as you ask your staff to be. If you aren’t, then you can expect some trouble at some point.
Many disputes crop up due to a lack of communication. It’s important to have open lines of inquiry for all your staff, whether they are a team manager or a cleaner. Have an open office that welcomes people in and be a good and interested boss. If you put your cards on the table, then you can bet your employees will do the same.
