There are several ways to generate sales leads for any organization. These are six of the easier, non-technical ways to get warm leads that may be pre-qualified. The warmer the leads the quicker you can move them through the sales cycle.
Word of Mouth
Word of mouth sales leads are the best kind. When a customer is happy with a product or service they will speak highly of the product and the person who sold it to them. When selling something or when a customer has let you know that they are satisfied with what you have sold to them, simply ask them if there’s anyone they know who might also benefit from that product or service. Not all of these leads will pan out, but these will be warm leads that are already well qualified by your customers.
Use Social Networking
With all of the social networks out there tons of warm leads could be brought in through your existing connections. Whether you’re using LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, or some other social network, creating the right message for your business and what you are offering will help bring in those leads. The best route is usually to provide content, advertising, and talk to your contacts. A hard-close usually isn’t the best route to go to engage your customers.
Finding a complimentary, yet non-competitive, business to conduct some cross-promotions with can bring in warm leads as well. Make sure that you take care of the relationship and offer to promote their business with yours as well. This method can bring in many leads, but the lead flow can be unpredictable. You’ll want to use some trial and error to determine the best matches and types of promotions as some will work better than others. You’ll also want to change the promotion regularly to keep it fresh for their customers.
Provide Contact Information
Providing your contact information on every piece of advertising, information, web page, or social network makes it much easier for leads to contact you when they’re ready.
There are tradeshows for just about every industry out there. Get involved. Become a speaker, get onto boards, donate your time to causes, and let everyone know what you are involved with. The more your name gets out there the more recognized you’ll become. This will also show potential leads that you are qualified to sell the products or services you are offering.
Also get involved in your local Chamber of Commerce. This is a great way to meet other local businesses, to learn about them, and to allow them to learn about you. Not only will you bring in new B2C leads, but you may also get a few B2B leads.
Collect Email Addresses
Whether it’s through social networking, through your website, or through your brick and mortar business, collect email addresses. This is a great way to send out information, advertisements, and offers. This helps bring additional leads to you. These leads might start out as cold leads, but they could quickly turn into warm leads. Always be sure to give everyone the ability to opt out of your email blasts. The most annoying thing is to start getting unwanted emails and not have a way to opt out.
