A New Yard – Out With The Old, In With The New
In January I was laid off, along with a large number of my coworkers, very unexpectedly. But, I have been keeping myself very busy (in addition to networking and looking for the right opportunity with the right company).
Over the past couple of months I’ve completed a couple of pretty big projects (with the help of my husband, my brother-in-law, and a few of my kids). This particular one was the landscaping of my front yard.
I had rock…a lot of rock…an endless amount of rock (it seemed).

I absolutely despised that rock!! I hated walking on it, I hated looking at it…I just hated it! So, I got rid of it.
How I got rid of tons of yard rock: I posted ads on Craigslist – FREE Yark Rock – you load and haul. My brother-in-law and I even helped load up the rock into trucks, trailers, and even the backs of cars and small SUV’s. It took several people to come pick up the rock before it was finally gone. The black plastic under the rock was in horrible shape, especially since the people who put the rock down (only about a year ago) ran over it with a Bobcat…that doesn’t help maintain the integrity of the plastic…just sayin’.

But, we finally got rid of all of it! Then we got to start planning where we wanted my new plants and deck / sitting area! The planting wasn’t exactly easy, but we had so much fun!!

My sitting area turned out so beautiful! One of my neighbors gave us these stumps, which I lacquered the tops to keep from getting sap on rear ends when sitting on them.

Some of our plants include:
- 1 transplanted orange tree from the backyard
- 2 additional orange trees
- 1 lemon tree
- 1 lime tree
- Golden Euonymus
- Blueberry bushes
- Hibiscus flowers
- Lilly’s
My yard smells so pretty now!
