Every year it seems that everywhere I turn I find several organizations that are collecting non-perishable food items to give to those less fortunate during the holiday season. This year is no different. I have two children in middle school this year, and I have been asked for donations, which I have gladly given.
But, we’ve found a new way to collect non-perishable food items for the less fortunate. A couple weeks ago my wonderful son decided to light a piece of paper on fire…in his bedroom…and then lie about it. For some reason he thought that we wouldn’t recognize the smell of burnt paper that he (poorly) attempted to mask by spraying Axe Body Spray in his bedroom. Well, Mom and Dad seem to know better and dug around until we found the root cause of the smell and uncovered the truth. Unfortunately for him, he’s in some very deep trouble right about now.
With credit given to my ex, here is just one of the things that my son is doing as a punishment for playing with fire. He will be collecting non-perishable food items for the less fortunate…while wearing this sign saying, “Being punished for playing with fire. Need to collect cans for people in need for Thanksgiving. Please donate.”
He really is not happy about this, as you can tell. But, he’s learning a valuable lesson and doing something good for the community at the same time. I know that those that the food will be donated to will appreciate the support.
