Relinquishing Login Info for Social Networking Sites
Last month a news report came out about colleges and some employers requiring their applicants to relinquish their Facebook login information. Currently, this is a legal practice and even appears in some handbooks, as in the handbook of the Universityof North Carolina, according to Mike Kayatta. Some argue that this is unconstitutional, but applicants still choose to hand over their information, or at least allow administrators and / or employers to ‘look over their shoulder’ while they guide the interviewer through their posts and friends list.
What do you think about this new way to retrieve information about an applicant? Do you think it should be considered invasive? Would you had over your login information for a new job or to get accepted into a school?
