Day 2 – Christmas Traditions

As I think back to my childhood I realize that I have incorporated many of my childhood traditions into my family as an adult, along with making my own traditions. Things have changed, but not that much. I have found that my husband and I have really put our traditions together from when we were children and created some of our own traditions.

Some of our Christmas traditions include:

  • Baking lots of goodies for family and friends
  • Opening one gift on Christmas Eve (although my husband would love to open ALL of them on Christmas Eve)
  • Driving around on Christmas Eve to look at all of the beautiful decorations
  • Decorating the Christmas tree
  • Drinking a cup of hot chocolate
  • Decorating the house (inside and out) with beautiful lights and festive colors
  • Making rings out of green and red construction paper to countdown to Christmas
  • Send out Christmas e-cards to family and friends (it’s WAY easier, and much more cost effective!)
  • Reading Twas the Night Before Christmas to the kids before bed
  • Hanging the stockings by the fireplace
  • Baking a ham, homemade mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, candied yams, among other delicious dishes

What Christmas traditions do you have in your home?
