Letting Consumers Drive Your Marketing

Again, I would like to go back to the whole ‘talk’ to your customers concept in marketing; although, this time it’s not on Facebook. The way consumers view and accept products and services is very different today than it was even ten years ago…or is it? While social marketing has evolved tremendously over the past few years,
the way customers want to be included hasn’t changed so much. As the article B2B Viral Marketing points out, customers want to have the voice, and they should have the voice. This article points out the extreme success that Cindy Gordon created with the Harry Potter phenomenon 10 years ago….the same still holds true today. Did you know that only 7 people were exposed to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter? Did you know that the viral marketing of those 7 people amounted to over 350 million people being involved as fans (and customers) of this amazing idea in just a short time?

While I am not necessarily a Harry Potter fan, I do recognize the importance of consumer driven marketing vs. company driven marketing. If you really have an amazing idea, let your customers drive your marketing campaigns for you.
