As a writer, it is important to know that sometimes the quality and quantity of your writing it determined by how productive you are during the process. This applies to not only writers, but bloggers too because finishing the work in half the period means you can get an awful lot more done.
In fact, our body is capable of doing a lot more than it currently already does, under the circumstances that we learn to make the most effective use of it.
Here we will discuss how writers can improve their productivity and creativity as a way of bettering their writing skills.
- Schedule Your Time
As you will know, writing up a great piece isn’t an easy and quick process. Not having a schedule put in place could be risky when being a writer because not only will you be unaware of what tasks to be getting on with and when, but could also cause your levels of productivity to hit an all-time low.
In order to prevent this from happening, write a plan or schedule which tells you exactly what you should be doing and when. This includes setting times for researching, writing, preparing and delivering. Productivity levels will rise this way as your mind can be left at ease with knowing what you’re supposed to be doing at a given time and you can set allocated time for each processing within your writing.
- Avoid multitasking
A writer is likely to be most productive when focusing on simply one task rather than skipping through task to task. When working on multiple things all at one go, such as writing a piece as well as browsing through social media and watching television, it could often result in a loss of ideas and create a mind full of mess.
As a result, not only could this cause a writer to lose all sense of creativity, but could also minimize a writer’s productivity levels. That is why it is best to focus on just one task at a go, as this also avoids procrastination
- Improve Your Working Environment
Sometimes as a writer you need to ask yourself whether or not the environment which you work in is healthy and easy to concentrate. Sometimes sitting in your home and continually writing in the same environment could restrict your levels of creativity. Instead, it is good to experience a change of scenery or a change in routine.
Perhaps it is a great idea for you as a writer to visit new places and environments in order to gain more creativity. Even if it means visiting the woods or your local park to experience new people, scenery and new events that occur.
- Listen To Creative Music
Another way to enhance your creativity could be listening to evocative music. As a writer you should listen to music before sitting down and brainstorming your writing ideas.
Some writers will find music very useful as a way of getting creativity juices flowing. Whereas, other writers will find it best to not listen to music as they find it distracting, therefore it is pretty much just a preference to the type of writer which you are.
- Improve Your Comfort
If you are someone who writes on a desk, or in an office, then perhaps it would be a good thing for you as a writer to invest in new office seating, such as an ergonomic chair which is proven to be a good way to better your posture and ergonomics.
This way, you could improve your levels of comfort and remove any distractions such as possible back pains formed by uncomfortable seating. Good seating can also ensure that your posture remains good, as well as your levels of writing and productivity.
On the other hand, if sitting by a desk to write isn’t your style, then it is best to ensure that wherever you choose to write, that you find somewhere comforting so that your mind isn’t distracted by how uncomfortable your chosen seating position is.
